Body found during search for missing man in Aiken County

Authorities haven't said if the body was the missing man, and the coroner's office hasn't released the name of the deceased pending notification of the family.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say they have found a body while searching for a missing man in Aiken County.

According to Coroner Darryl Ables, investigators with the Aiken County Sheriff's Office were searching for a missing man in the 100 block of Hunter Branch Road on Thursday afternoon when they found the body of a male around 4 p.m.

Authorities haven't said if the body was the missing man, and the coroner's office hasn't released the name of the deceased pending notification of the person's family.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning in Newberry. Coroner Ables said he doesn't suspect foul play.
