The suspect shown in surveillance video stole more than $4,000 worth of cigarettes, deputies say.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Richland County deputies are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect who they say stole more $4,000 worth of cigarettes in two burglaries.

Deputies say they responded to an alarm call at the Sharpe Shop in the 8300 block of Winnsboro Road on Nov. 28, 2018 to find the front door glass shattered. Surveillance video captured a suspect wearing gloves, a blue-hooded sweatshirt and dark pants breaking into the business to steal cigarettes. The suspect made off with 47 packs, which were worth around $329, officials say.

On Nov. 30, 2018, around 4 a.m., a citizen reported that the front door was open and glass was shattered at the J&S Food Mart in the 2400 block of Percival Road. Deputies responded to the business and found it had been burglarized. Surveillance video from inside the store showed the suspect breaking the glass door to get inside. Once inside, the suspect stole items from the store. Deputies say the business reported that more than $4,000 worth of cigarettes were stolen, along with some cash.
