Crack cocaine, marijuana lands four Sumter brothers in jail

Sumter, SC (WLTX) - Four brothers are facing multiple charges after drugs and money turned up during a recent house search.

Sumter police say marijuana, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and $3,500 cash were found inside a residence on South Guignard Drive this week.

Markus Devon Peterson, 28, was charged with distribution of marijuana, distribution of marijuana within a half mile of a school or park, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana within a half mile of a school or park.

Markus' twin Martiz Lavon Peterson and their brothers, 30-year-old Harry Javon Peterson Cortez Jerome Singleton were each charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and intent to distribute marijuana within a half-mile of a school or park.

Singleton was also charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and intent to distribute crack within a half-mile of a school or park.

All four were booked at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center with bonds ranging from $5,000-40,000.

Sumter Police Department, along with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, say these arrests came as a result of an ongoing effort to prevent a pattern of illegal drug sales, shootings around Sumter County.
