Kershaw County, SC (WLTX) - An attempted murder suspect is in custody after he led deputies on a high speed chase that began in Kershaw County, and ended in Lee County.

Brandon McQuillan, 26, is now charged with failure to stop for a blue light and driving under suspension in Kershaw County.

However, McQuillan was already wanted on attempted murder charges in North Charleston. So when authorities found he may be in Kershaw County on November 15, they alerted the sheriff's office.

Before U.S. Marshals were able to apprehend the "dangerous criminal" whose location was being monitored for an unrelated matter, he drove off in a Jeep. Investigators continued to monitor him until he arrived at a gas station in East Camden and fled after realizing he was being followed.

The suspect continued to evade arrest, even after an attempted traffic stop, passing other motorists on the right shoulder, hills, curves and in no passing zones. As he entered Lee County, Kershaw County dispatch contacted county authorities, who deployed spike strips causing him to crash into an SUV.

He eventually came to a stop on the sidewalk in front of a bank in Bishopville, where he was taken into custody. McQuillan, who has an extensive criminal record, is currently awaiting a bond hearing at the Kershaw County Detention Center

No injuries were reported during the incident.
