Lee Correctional Institution has been long plagued with contraband issues, with outsiders trying to throw things like tobacco, cell phones and drugs across the fence.

An inmate at Lee Correctional Institution was found dead in a single cell on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the S.C. Department of Corrections says the man was found unresponsive. Lee County coroner Larry Logan says an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday in Newberry County.
