Fairfield County, SC (WLTX) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol said one person was killed and another injured following a crash in Fairfield County.
Lance Corporal Gary Miller said the single vehicle accident happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon on Landis Road, near Scotts Road, about twelve miles south of Winnsboro.
L. Cpl. Miller said the vehicle was traveling north on Landis Road when it went off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, a tree, and overturned.
Troopers said the driver was transported to Richland Memorial hospital with injuries. The passenger was transported to Fairfield Hospital, where they died from their injuries. The two people occupying the vehicle were wearing seatbelts.
Fairfield County Coroner Chris Hill identified the woman who died as Mary Hackle.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Fairfield County Coroner's Office.
