BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. — First it was stalking at Walmart, then harassment at Hardee's, and now it's potential jail time for one South Carolina man.

Officers with the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department were first made aware of Tony Travis Smith Jr. after a report at a local Walmart on May 16. A woman there said Smith stalked her through the store.

They weren't able to locate the suspect, but they received another report a short time later. This time a Hardee's cashier said Smith made "sexually explicit and inappropriate comments" toward her, causing her to fear for her life.

Officers were able to locate the suspect's car, and tried to pull him over. However, Smith fled and lead them on a chase. He eventually crashed, because he was reportedly under the influence.

Smith was eventually apprehended after a brief foot chase.

Smith, a register sex offender, was wanted by multiple jurisdictions, including SC Probation, Pardon and Parole.

His bond was denied for multiple charges, including assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct, driving under the influence 4th offense, driving under suspension for DUI 2nd offense, failures to stop for blue lights and habitual offender third offense.
