Serial killer confesses to 90 murders; one could be linked to South Carolina

The Richland County Sheriff's Department says they are looking in to a case from 1978 that could be linked to convicted murderer Samuel Little.

Richland County, SC (WLTX) - A convicted serial killer has confessed to 90 deaths from behind bars and one of them could be connected to Richland County.

Samuel Little, 76, is currently serving a life sentence for the murders of three women in California. While behind bars his DNA was linked to the 1994 death of Denise Christie Brothers, a woman from Odessa, TX.

While investigators were questioning Little about Brothers' death, he confessed that he killed 90 people in 14 states between 1970 and 2005.

One of those states included South Carolina. News 19 reached out to the State Law Enforcement Division and then to the Richland County Sheriff's Department (RCSD) about a possible case.

RCSD explained that they were looking into a case dating back to 1978 and were working with investigators to determine if this was the only case in the county connected to Little.

Very few details have been released about this case, but the agency says it's too early to say for certain if charges will be forthcoming.

"By the time we get done, it very well may be confirmed that he is the most prolific serial killer in American history," says Bobby Bland, district attorney in Ector County, TX.

Little is facing another life sentence or 99 years in prison for the 1994 murder. He could face other charges from agencies around the nation.
