COLUMBIA, S.C. — A helicopter belonging to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division crashed at the Summerville Airport around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
The pilot -- the only occupant of the craft -- was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The helicopter was flying a mission for Dorchester County authorities and is the first crash of a SLED helicopter in the agency's history.
The Federal Aviation Association is investigating.
