LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lane changes have been implemented to a busy Lexington intersection of I-20.

Street Squad Lexington has been following the stories that matter to you and your community. Many have told News 19 traffic is one of your biggest concerns within the county.

Back in February, Town of Lexington Mayor, Steve MacDougall, announced there would be changes coming to the exits and intersections on Sunset Boulevard off of I-20.

The mayor says over 45,000 vehicles travel through this area daily.

The project is a part of the town's hospitality tax transportation projects.

In the past, there were only two lanes on Ginny Lane to turn onto or drive through Sunset Boulevard. At the intersection, there are now three lanes.

The Town of Lexington announced Thursday there would be changes to “signal operations and lane assignments.” As of April 19th, there is now a left turn only, a thru-right, and a right turn only lanes when Ginny Lane is approaching Sunset Boulevard.

The town of Lexington believes adding new and changing lane assignments and making changes to the exit ramp off I-20 westbound, it will help alleviate traffic congestion in the area.

The town is still working on adding more lanes on the exit ramp off of I-20. For more information on that part of the project, click here.
