Two Lexington school districts may make up days differently in 2019

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Two school districts in Lexington County have been selected for eLearning days.

Lexington School District Two and Lexington County School District 3 were two of ten schools in the state selected to participate in the pilot program.

If the school districts have one or more bad weather days, kids and staff would not have to come in on make-up days. Instead everyone would work from home and work on virtual assignments.

Lexington School District Two said in a press release, “eLearning allows districts to continue lessons at home when classes on regularly scheduled school days are cancelled, as in the case of inclement weather. Students will communicate with teachers and have classwork to complete and turn in during eLearning days.”

This program started back in the 2018-2019 school year. There are now 15 school districts using eLearning days.

To help the new ten school district joining the program, the previously selected five from the 2018 school year will be helping new districts adapt. For Lexington School District Two, Anderson 5 will be their partner.

School districts will use school websites, phone calls, text messaging, and social media to let parents know when eLearning days will be used.
