Lucky shopper hits jackpot with $2 lottery ticket in Camden

The winner said she has a basic plan for what she'll do with the money.

CAMDEN, S.C. — People don't often go out shopping and come home with more money. But that's basically what happened in Camden recently.

A woman said she decided to try her luck on a $2 lottery ticket and became an instant winner.

According to South Carolina Education Lottery officials, the woman bought a ticket at Murphy Express #8629 on 3 Bay Lane in Camden. She was willing to risk losing $2 on the Jumbo Bucks game, and it made her $50,000 richer.

The winner said she wasn't expecting to beat one in 600,000 odds to take home the grand prize. While she was shopping at the time, she said the money she won would go into savings.

The Murphy Express received a $500 commission for selling the winning ticket. Officials said the Jumbo Bucks game still has three $50,000 prizes left.
