Clemson's Brad Brownell Breaks Down The Non-Conference Schedule

Clemson has released a non-conference schedule that should challenge the Tigers who are looking for back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Clemson basketball released its 2018-19 non-conference schedule Thursday, which features games against three NCAA Tournament teams and six teams that won at least 19 games.

The annual rivalry game against South Carolina will take place in Columbia on Dec. 22; Clemson has won the programs' past two meetings, including a 62-60 win over the Gamecocks the last time they played at The Colonial Life Arena.

Clemson plays in two non-conference tournaments — the Cayman Islands Classic, in which the Tigers will play Akron and either Georgia and Illinois State, and the Never Forget Classic, in which they'll play Mississippi State.

Head coach Brad Brownell's squad opens the season at home Nov. 6 against The Citadel, followed by home games against North Carolina Central on Nov. 9 and Sam Houston State on Nov. 14.

The most high-profile non-conference game at Littlejohn Coliseum occurs Nov. 26, when Clemson hosts Nebraska in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Clemson beat Ohio State in Columbus in last year's challenge, 79-65.

Clemson plays NCAA Tournament participants Radford and Lipscomb on Dec. 15 and Dec. 30, respectively, sandwiched around a Dec. 18 game against Charleston Southern.

The Tigers went 25-10 last season, their best record since the 2006-07 season, and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1997. Four starters return to Littlejohn Coliseum as Clemson enters the season as arguably one of the best teams in the ACC.
