Steve Ensminger walked to the podium at the Xavier Convocation Center and laid down the ground rules for his news conference at Media Day - only football-related questions.
It has been two weeks since Ensminger's daughter-in-law was one of five people killed when a small plane crashed shortly after takeoff in Lafayette, Louisiana. The plane was headed to Atlanta and the Chick-fil-A Bowl where LSU was facing Oklahoma. In one of the hardest things he has ever had to do, Ensminger coached in that game.
Understandably, Ensminger did not want to spend the entire hour of media reliving the tragic day when his son lost his wife. He says he appreciates the support he and his family have received. But Saturday's Media Day was about football.
