COLUMBIA, S.C. — Walker Lawson, born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, joined the WLTX News19 team in September 2021.
Walker Lawson is a Multi-Skilled Journalist in Columbia, SC who covers a range of topics as a general assignment reporter and member of the Street Squad team. Street Squad is in counties across the Midlands telling stories you want to see on TV and asking questions you want answers to in Kershaw County and other locations.
Originally from Charlotte, Walker loves a homecooked southern meal and quick weekend escapes to the mountains or the beach.
He graduated from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in Journalism.
During his time in college, his experiences were shifted due to the pandemic, he interned virtually with WBTV in Charlotte, and spent time broadcasting for UNC Charlotte’s social media Weather Page, from his own at home studio.
In his free time, Walker loves being out with friends, working out, watching movies or traveling.
Walker was thrilled to stay in the Carolina’s as he calls Columbia his new home. He is excited to be kick off his career in the Capitol City surrounded by a knowledgeable and experienced team, he says he’s excited as this experience will help him grow as a reporter.
