COLUMBIA, S.C. — Investigative journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Bob Woodward will be the guest speaker at University of South Carolina's College of Information and Communications' annual Buchheit Family Lecture on Wednesday, February 28.
The former Washington Post reporter, along with colleague Carl Bernstein, uncovered what would become known as the Watergate scandal, exposing corruption at the highest levels of government and resulting in the resignation of President Richard Nixon in August 1974.
Woodward still holds the position of associate editor at The Post and contributes stories to the newspaper. He has also written over 20 non-fiction books on American politics and current affairs, including All the President's Men (with Bernstein), Bush at War, Obama's Wars, and The Trump Tapes: Bob Woodward's Twenty Interviews with President Donald Trump.
Over his career as an investigative journalist, Woodward has contributed to two Pulitzer Prizes for his work at the Washington Post, covering Watergate and the September 11 attacks, and won the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism in 2001.
USC journalism instructor Nina Brook will interview Woodward as part of the presentation. Topics may range from the basics of good journalism to the results of the recent South Carolina Democratic and Republican Presidential Primaries.
Wednesday's lecture is free and open to the public, although you do have to register online to attend. It will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Joseph F Rice School or Law, Karen J Williams Courtroom, 1525 Senate St., Columbia.
