West Columbia’s Meeting Street Music Festival expands with more music, food, and fun in 2024

Families gathered for West Columbia's Meeting Street Music Festival, enjoying food, music, and activities for a second year.

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — West Columbia hosted its second annual Meeting Street Music Festival on Saturday.

Kids, adults, and families were invited to enjoy the big event, which included 15 food trucks and three college football viewing stations. And that's not all.

Art, jewelry, and food vendors were on hand as attendees browsed and were graced by live music. Others relaxed in the shade, and adults could purchase beer or wine at some stands.

"Just looking for something to do, just get out of the house, and we saw this, and I just thought it'd be a fun afternoon to come out and get a bite to eat, listen to some nice music and just relax," said Ralph Schmidt, who attended the festival with his wife, Linda.

Attendees said they were thankful the city brought this event to West Columbia in 2023 and are making it an annual tradition with this year's event.

"This year, we’ve got three stages instead of two and we added a Friday night down at the amphitheater," West Columbia spokesperson Anna Huffman said. "So, we actually had 10 bands total. We’ve got a pet station this year so you can bring your pet and a cooling station. They’ve got little pools and stuff."

"And then, we did a line dancing spot, too, so you can learn all kinds of line dancing by Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor," she added.

Huffman said organizers began planning this event back in January.
