Columbia, SC (WLTX) - If you are looking for a unique event with fine dining, look to the Gervais Street bridge.
On October 18, the bridge will be transformed into an outdoor dining area for one night.
Organizers with Soda City Friends are looking to cater a meal for 1,000 people. There will be eight local restaurants helping with food.
Proceeds from the dinner are going towards the Congaree Riverkeeper, Canoeing for Kids, and the Harvest Hope Food Bank.
Event organizer Emile DeFelice says it's a way to bring all of Columbia together for a good cause.
"It's fun and unique and you know there's no more iconic emblem of the midlands than this bridge," says DeFelice. "We have a lot of cool stuff around, but this takes the cake here."
"The river divides us, but it also unites us, so that's the metaphysical reason for having this dinner."
The Gervais Street Bridge Dinner is set for October 18th from 4 to 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale.
