SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. (AP) - Shaw Air Force Base is filling the skies over central South Carolina with flights by the Air Force Thunderbirds precision flying team and the U.S. Army's Black Daggers parachutists.
The event continues Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
The Thunderbirds conduct their precision-flying demonstrations with a team of five F-16 Flying Falcons. The Black Daggers are a demonstration team from the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. Flights begin around 10 a.m.
The event will also display Shaw's 20th Fighter Wing's F-16 combat jets as well as a CF-18 from the Canadian Air Force, U.S. Navy F/A-18s and vintage U.S. Air Force aircraft.
Parking is free on the base near Sumter.
