Camden, SC (WLTX) - You'll have a chance to meet wrestling legend "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan when he helps raise money for a good cause this weekend.
Duggan will be at the Camden Chick-fil-A on West DeKalb Street Saturday, June 11 at an event to help the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office's K-9 unit.
For those who may not be familiar with him (wrestling fans, bear with us), Duggan is known across the world for entering the ring holding a 2x4 piece of wood to chants of "U-S-A." He had a well-known stint with the WWF, as it was then known, and continues to make appearances across the nation.
Duggan, who now lives in Kershaw County, says he was inspired to help when he heard all the great stories about what the Kershaw County Sheriff's department does with the dogs beyond catching criminals, including finding missing children and Alzheimer's patients. Sheriff Jim Matthews the fundraiser was Duggan's idea.
“I cannot overemphasize the importance of our canine units and all they do to keep our community safer,” said Matthews. "[He} came up with this fundraiser idea on his own and we deeply appreciate his willingness to support us."
Donations for the event can be made to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Foundations, a 501 (c) 3 tax exempt entity by making out a check to the foundation. They can either be brought to the fundraiser or mailed to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Foundation at PO Box 664 Camden, SC 29021.
