Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The South Carolina Education Lottery says it will honor two sets of winning numbers for Friday night's Pick 3 drawing.
During the broadcast of the lottery drawing at 6:59 p.m. on December 18, the numbers 6-2-0 were announced, and those numbers were put up on the screen. However, a short time later, the lottery's independent auditor released the numbers as 9-2-0, and those results were put on the lottery's website and distributed to the public.
The lottery now says the 6-2-0 were incorrectly announced.
"The Lottery is a transparent organization. These are our loyal players, and we honor our mistakes," the Lottery's Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea said. "Our players know our integrity, and we are going to pay both sets of numbers."
People who have the 6-2-0 tickets cannot redeem them at the place where they were purchased from; instead, they'll have to take their tickets to the Columbia Claims Center for processing and payment. People can sign the back of the ticket and complete the required information if they want to mail it in.
People who have the 9-2-0 numbers can claim them at the retailer where they purchased them.
The claims center in Columbia is located at 1309 Assembly Street. People can mail to the following address:
