COLUMBIA, S.C. — After an epic 1,200-mile journey from Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, Raiden, a male sea lion, has arrived at his new home in Sea Lion Landing at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden.
Raiden’s introduction to his new surroundings has been carefully orchestrated to ensure a smooth transition.
Initially, Raiden met his fellow sea lions one-on-one, separated by a mesh barrier to allow for safe, gradual acclimation. Once all the animals appeared comfortable, Raiden was welcomed into the main habitat, where he began socializing with his new companions.
Visitors may notice some adjustments to the Sea Lion talks in the coming weeks as zookeepers and animals settle into their new rhythm.
Guests are encouraged to stop by and catch a glimpse of Raiden as he gets to know his new home and friends.
You can visit Riverbanks Zoo soon to say hello to Raiden and the rest of the pinniped crew!
