COLUMBIA, S.C. — A senior assisted living facility in Northeast Columbia is making sure its residents have a very Merry Christmas.

This is the fourth year NHC HealthCare Parklane has collected Christmas gift donations from the community for its seniors.

Organizers said there's an Amazon wish list for their 180 residents. The community can purchase one of the gifts, and Amazon will deliver it to the facility's door.

Organizers will then wrap the gifts for each resident to open on Christmas morning. The Deyos said they're very thankful for people's generosity.

"They certainly go out of their way to make Christmas cheery, joyful, and like I said we were surprised that they had this gift, community gift program. And we're looking forward to Christmas to open those gifts," Bob Deyo said.

The assisted living facility still needs help with about 80 gifts if people want to donate.

"It's super important. A lot of residents don't have any family at all and I want to make sure that everybody has a gift at Christmas time," business office manager Patti Silva said.
