GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) - Replicas of Columbus' ships the Nina and the Pinta are visiting South Carolina although the Santa Maria is not.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/1i1I512 ) replicas of the two ships arrived at the Harborwalk Marina in Georgetown this week and are remaining through the weekend. The ships are open for tours daily.
The event visit is sponsored by The Columbus Foundation of the British Virgin Islands which works to educate people about the type of ships Columbus used on his exploration to the Americas in 1492.
The ships tour for ten months each year visiting about 40 different places around the country.
