COLUMBIA, S.C. — In 2013, Richland County voters voted in favor of a $59 million bond referendum that would add enhancements to libraries in the county.
And this Friday, the final project of that referendum, Richland Library Southeast on Garners Ferry Road, will re-open.
Since 1992, Lower Richland community residents have been able to go to Richland Library Southeast on Garners Ferry Road.
The renovations to the library will include a new gaming lab, more meeting spaces and a brand new area for children.
"We’ve completely reconfigured the space it’s a brand new looking place," says Sarah Manor, who serves as the director at the location. "Our makers space is a dedicated space for our community of crafters, we also have meeting spaces that are perfect for groups of many different sizes.”
"The library is about more than books, we have spaces where people can come together and collaborate, spaces where people can learn, create and share, and have fun.” Manor said.
The library will hold its grand reopening ceremony this Friday at 3 p.m.
