Borealis Foods to invest $50 million to increase production at Palmetto Gourmet Foods in Saluda, SC

Noodle company to increase production of Chef Woo and Ramen Express lines, add jobs over the next 12 months.

SALUDA, S.C. — Talk about oodles of noodles! Palmetto Gourmet Foods announced it will be able to increase production of noodle products and add new jobs over the next 12 months with a $50 million investment from Borealis Foods.

The Saluda, South Carolina-based, Palmetto Gourmet Foods (PGF) produces Chef Woo and Ramen Express instant ramen noodles that are sold throughout the US in Walmart, Costco, Save A Lot and Aldi grocery stores. With this $50 million investment, PGF will be able to increase its workforce to more than 650 employees and increase production capacity from 600 million meals a year to 1 billion meals a year. PGF will also begin exporting food products to Europe in 2023.

Borealis Foods is a food technology company based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, specializing in globally marketed plant-based food products.

Chef Woo is certified vegan, organic, Kosher, and Halal, and has won many international awards -- including being a finalist at the World Plant-based Awards.
