City of Columbia temporarily moves licensing, planning services to Payment Center

Customers directed to Harden Street location while repairs are being made at Washington Street facility

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Emergency repairs at City of Columbia's building at 1136 Washington St. is forcing a temporary change of venue for some city customers.

Customers wanting to apply for permits with the City's Planning and Development Services Department are urged to apply for permits online at planninganddevelopment.columbiasc.gov

Beginning Thursday, Feb. 3, and continuing until further notice, the following services will be moved to the City's Payment Center at 3000 Harden St.:

  • For in-person business with Zoning, Building Permits, and Development Center may visit 3000 Harden Street to meet with City staff. Phone numbers to call for these services are:
    > Zoning: 803-545-3333
    > Development Center/Building Permits and Inspections: 803-545-3420
  • For Business License customers, please visit 3000 Harden Street to conduct in-person business or contact 803-545-3345 to speak with a Business License representative.
  • In the interim, applications and questions for new water and/or sanitary sewer service(s) can be made via email to EngSpecialServices@columbiasc.gov. All new and post construction submittals outside of City limits or additional inquiries should be emailed to Engprojects@columbiasc.gov.

The City's Payment Center is open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
