Lexington County, Town Council to hold joint session about Smallwood development

Meeting to be held Wednesday, July 12, at 6 p.m.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — The Town of Lexington and Lexington County councils will hold a joint work session at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, regarding the Smallwood project at Lake Murray.

Development of Smallwood Cove, a multi-use, multi-million dollar investment on 93 acres adjacent to the public beach at Lake Murray, was announced in early May. Plans for the development include 1,100 residential units (a mix of homes, condominiums and townhomes), two hotels, a conference center, and some retail space. Early reports predict private developers are expected to invest in excess of $733 million in the project.

Construction is expected to begin in the next two years and will take a total of 15 years to complete.

Wednesday's work session has time set aside for public comment (speakers are limited to three minutes each), and will be held in the Conference Center at the Lexington Municipal Complex, 111 Maiden Lane.
