COLUMBIA, S.C. — Renters: do you have problems with slow or unfilled maintenance requests, basic services, or any other issues regarding your rental and are unsure what to do next?

Landlords: are you up to date on code enforcement and the Uniform Relocation Act, or are you dealing with a difficult renter?

The City of Columbia will be hosting an evening workshop on Jan. 18, 2024, for both tenants and landlords to attend in order to learn more about their rights and responsibilities in regard to rental properties within the city limits.

Representatives from the City of Columbia's Community Development Department and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will lead the Tenants and Landlords Rights & Responsibilities workshop covering topics such as reporting issues in subsidized housing/tenant-based section 8, code enforcement, housing discrimination, evictions and housing legal information, and uniform relocation act.

Mark your calendar for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln St. The workshop is free, but registration is required to attend. Fill out the online form here.
