Apple store opens at University of South Carolina

Gamecock iHub will sell, service Apple computers to UofSC students, faculty, staff and alumni

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina officially opened its Apple Authorized Campus Store, the Gamecock iHub, on Friday, August 13.

The Apple store is located in the first floor of the James F. Byrnes Building across from the UofSC Horseshoe, near the corner of Sumter and College streets. Gamecock iHub will sell and service Apple products for anyone associated with the university -- including students, staff, faculty, or alumni.

According to early reports, Jeffrey Campbell, chair of the Department of Retailing within the College of Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management (HRSM), and Matt Brown, interim dean of HRSM, will lead the project. HRSM faculty will help manage the store, but day-to-day operations will be conducted by students. The students will receive credit for experimental learning and Gamecock iHub will be only the second store in the nation to incorporate experimental learning into its business model.

Apple authorized staff will be able to conduct in-house service and repairs.
