These are the longest-lasting vehicles ranked

Toyota dominates the list of long-lasting vehicles, but Ford takes the top spot.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The cost of buying a new vehicle is up more than 5% from last year, according to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s why having a vehicle with longevity is more important now than ever before —  but how do you know if your ride will go the distance?

Automotive search engine, iSeeCars, analyzed data for more than 260 million vehicles to see which makes and models offer the greatest potential lifespan for drivers. Their results: Toyota reigns supreme.

The study found half of the longest-lasting cars and trucks in the top ten were Toyotas.

The Toyota Land Cruiser, Tundra, Sequoia, Tacoma, and 4Runner all had a more than 40% chance of lasting 250,000 miles or more, the study found.

While Toyota dominates the pack, Honda, GMC, Chevrolet, Acura, Ram and Ford all had at least one model making iSeeCars's Top 20 for potential longevity.

Ford took the top spot on the long-lasting list. iSeeCars ranked the Ford F-350 Super Duty number one with a 49.1% chance of lasting 250,000 miles or more. The Ford F-250 Super Duty ranked fifth with a 43.6% chance of going the distance.

The truth is, even if you don't plan on getting to that 250,000-mile mark in your vehicle, experts say having one with a track record of durability might make you more money if, and when, you decide to sell.
