Got junk in the trunk? Richland Recycles Day is Saturday, May 14

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Do you have old computers, appliances, and other junk items you need to get rid of? Load them up and bring them to Richland Recycles Day at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 14.

The event is free and open to residents of Richland County only -- no commercial businesses allowed.

What you can bring to recycle:

  • Electronics -- including computers, printers, televisions and telephones
  • Scrap metal -- appliances, bicycles, metal chairs, metal shelving, lawn mowers with no gasoline or oil
  • Tires -- car, light truck or motorcycle
  • Household hazardous waste -- paints, stains, sealers, solvents, household cleaners, household chemicals, pool chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, acids, bases, mercury, fire extinguishers, propane tanks
  • Paper to shred -- limit of five boxes or bags per household
