Public comment sought as SC Housing applies for $10 million funding request

Housing agency is applying for HUD money for repair/replacement of manufactured home communities across South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. — SC Housing wants your input before the agency completes the application process for Preservation & Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement (PRICE) funds available through US Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The local agency is asking for $10 million in PRICE funding that would go to preserving and revitalizing manufactured housing and manufactured housing communities throughout South Carolina.

PRICE funds are part of HUD's Community Development Block Grant framework and eligible uses of funds would include, but are not limited to:

  • Repair, revitalization, or replacement of manufactured housing; 
  • Development or improvement of infrastructure that supports manufactured housing units; 
  • Land and site acquisition; 
  • Resident and community services including relocation assistance and eviction prevention; 
  • Environmental improvements and activities to increase resilience to natural disasters, severe weather, and climate change; and 
  • Administrative and Planning activities

Public comments are requested on the Draft Application  before Saturday, July 6. Interested parties can read through the Draft Application online or attend a public hearing at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, via Zoom or in person by registering here. If attending in person, the meeting will be held at SC Housing, 300-C Outlet Pointe Blvd., Columbia.

  • In writing via USPS, or other shipping method or hand-delivered to: SC Housing Attn: Community Development - PRICE Main Grant, 300-C Outlet Pointe Blvd., Columbia, SC 29210. Hand delivered comments may be provided to SC Housing’s reception staff in the lobby.  
  • Verbal comments may be provided by calling 803-896-4265.
  • At the Public Hearing

Copies of the PRICE Main Grant Draft Application will be available during normal business hours 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at SC Housing, 300-C Outlet Pointe Blvd, Columbia SC 29210.
