COLUMBIA, S.C. — Inauguration day funneled hundreds of people to the streets of downtown Columbia with some businesses seeing an increase in customers
"Business has been great, foot traffic has been wonderful," says Lea Trail with TakoSushi.
She says the rush of customers came as soon as the big event wrapped.
"It was actually a little bit later than our normal lunch rush, and they trickled in it wasn't so bad they didn't fill up all at one time, but it was nice to have the new faces," she adds.
"A lot of places we're not open on Main Street, in fact, we walked around a bit trying to find a place and we ended up here," says Tony Spain, a customer at the sushi restaurant and he was intown to see the inauguration.
He said he was surprised by the lack of places open on the big day.
"I thought for the inauguration, you would think, a lot of places would be open to getting that revenue coming in," he adds.
Other restaurants say they had different experiences based on location. the ones closest to the State House said they were busy, while those further away saw a smaller crowd.
