COLUMBIA, S.C. — While President Joe Biden was making a speech in West Columbia, South Carolina, Republicans released statements regarding the president's latest economic proposals, known as Bidenomics.
Biden was at Flex LTD, a manufacturing plant that is partnering with Enphase Energy to produce microinverters used in solar panels. The partnership will consist of an investment of $20 million and 600 new jobs in South Carolina and a total of $60 million and 1800 jobs nationwide.
The president also touted his Bidenomics plan for growing the American economy through investment in the middle-out and bottom-up rather than a trickle-down from the top.
South Carolina GOP Chairman Drew McKissick released a statement saying, “It will be interesting to see if Biden has anything to say about why inflation continues to rise faster than wages, why the border is still being overrun with illegals, or why his Justice Department has two different standards of justice. Maybe his handlers will let him take some real, unscreened questions while he’s here, but I doubt it. And with his lousy job performance, I can’t blame them.”
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster was not at the Biden announcement but released this statement on social media:
GOP presidential hopeful Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina was on FOX News with Bill Hemmer Thursday morning and said, "I hope he is gonna start his apology tour here in South Carolina because what the president wants the American people to do is to believe what he says and not what we see with our own eyes... We can do better by trusting the American people with their own money."
Nationally, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released a statement calling the president's trip the "Biden's Bankrupting America Tour stop in South Carolina" and saying, “Pay more, get less – that’s Bidenomics. Voters in South Carolina and around the country reject Joe Biden’s failed agenda because they know four more years of Biden means four more years of higher prices, falling wages, and Democrats raising taxes."
