RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Richland County is still accepting applications for Emergency Rental Assistance - the program which is being made available to residents who meet certain criteria.
The funds, made available to Richland County through the U.S. Department of Treasury, are aimed at helping households who are having difficulty paying rent and utilities as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funds were made available by a program established over a year ago. But, with COVID still a factor in many lives, it's still available - a point Richland County hopes the public knows.
Residents can apply using the online portal or request assistance by dialing 855-216-9198. Residents can also apply in person through the county's Department of Government and Community Services who offer in-person assistance on a limited basis and by appointment only. Required documentation is required at the appointment. Residents can apply for an appointment by calling 803-576-1513 and leaving a message.
The Richland County library is also offering assistance to residents who need help completing an application and can be contacted for an appointment at 803-509-8371 or by texting 803-386-8506. Those interested can also email socialworker@richlandlibrary.com.
