CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Two sailors are safe after their 36-foot sailboat grounded on the Charleston Harbor jetties in rough seas.
The U.S. Coast Guard reports it received a call shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday that the boat had been pushed onto the rock jetties and its hull punctured.
A small boat crew and a helicopter were dispatched. The small boat crew was able to toss a line and pull the man and woman to safety. They were not hurt.
The National Weather Service warns of rip currents and high surf along the South Carolina coast with a storm system at sea.
There's a low pressure system about 210 miles off the North Carolina-South Carolina border and the National Hurricane Center says there's 80 percent chance it could become a subtropical storm.
