(PARRIS ISLAND, SC) - A Marine Corps autopsy has found that Recruit Bret Moran's death is due to natural causes.Moran died in his sleep on November 18, the final day of Crucible. He was found in his bed by fellow recruits after he did not respond to reveille. Attempts to revive him at the scene were unsuccessful.Moran was treated for pneumonia a month before his death. The autopsy found that he suffered a microscopic infection that weakened his heart muscle. The medical examiner concluded that Moran's illness could not be easily diagnosed.An investigation found that there was a lack of coordination between the training unit and the branch medical clinic, but did not find evidence of intentional wrongdoing or negligence.
