Case against ex-Richland Co. Recreation Commission head continued indefinitely

State Attorney General's office says no new date scheduled at this time

COLUMBIA, S.C. — James Brown III, the ex-Richland County Recreation Commission head, was set to be in court Tuesday for jury selection.

However, the South Carolina Attorney General's office says the case is continued indefinitely and did not provide a new date.

When reached by phone Tuesday afternoon, a spokesman for the attorney general's office said they could not disclose a reason for the continuance, except to say a new date has not been scheduled.

Brown was indicted in October of 2016.

Brown faces criminal sexual conduct and misconduct in office charges for behavior stretching from 2012 to 2015, according to prosecutors.

The South Carolina Attorney General's office added five new charges in June of 2018.
