Award-winning rapper Common coming to Columbia for concert

Rapper, actor and author, Common is bringing his new tour to Columbia.

Hip-hop star Common is bringing his new #LetLoveTour to Columbia's Township Auditorium. 

The rapper will perform on August 21. Tickets will go on sale Friday, June 14, here.  

Born in Chicago, Common began his career as a rapper, debuting his album "Can I Borrow a Dollar?" in 1992. He later transitioned into acting and authoring books. 

Common's latest book, "Let Love Have the Last Word" was released earlier this year.

Since starting his career, Common has received 30 Grammy nominations and has won three Grammy's. He received his first Grammy in 2002 for Best R&B Song for "Love of My Life" with Erykah Badu, his second in 2007 for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "Southside" featuring Kanye West, and his third Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media for his song "Glory."

In 2015, Common won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Original Song for "Glory" from the film "Selma."  

In 2017, Common won an Emmy Award for co-writing "Letter To The Free." 

He'll be joined on his stop in Columbia by special guest Maimouna Yousseff, also known as Mumu Fresh.
