14 plead guilty to drug trafficking charges in South Carolina Upstate

COLUMBIA, S.C. — 14 people are facing time in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges in connection to a drug trafficking organization in Upstate South Carolina. 

Between February 1, 2021, and September 6, 2023, law enforcement seized 39 guns and over 27 kilograms of methamphetamine (street value of $800K) during the "Las Senoritas" investigation into an inmate-run drug trafficking organization. Inmates in South Carolina Department of Corrections and female defendants coordinated the delivery of methamphetamine from Mexico to the drug's distribution in South Carolina. The women, called the "Senoritas," were selling as much as 10 kilograms of methamphetamine a week to area drug dealers. 

In one instance, law enforcement seized nearly five kilograms of methamphetamine from an AirBnB that the women -- Angela Nicole Welbourn and Taylor Suzanne Oates -- had rented in Greenville from which they sold drugs.
