2 adults, 2 teens charged in Sumter discount store break-ins

Police said they broke into a Dollar General on Sept. 5 and Sept. 13, leaving behind damage to the building and taking hundreds of dollars’ worth of merchandise.

SUMTER, S.C. — Two adults and two 14-year-olds are charged in connection with break-ins at a Sumter discount retail business.

Police said the suspects broke into a Dollar General on North Lafayette Drive on Sept. 5 and on Sept. 13, leaving behind damage to the building and taking hundreds of dollars’ worth in food, tobacco products and other merchandise.

Jakarion Keener, 18, and Deonta Cooper,19, are both charged with two counts each of burglary-2nd degree (violent), criminal conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a single count of possession of burglary tools.

Keener and Copper were booked Monday at the county detention center.

One of the juveniles is charged with two counts each of burglary-2nd degree violent and criminal conspiracy. The other juvenile is charged with single counts of burglary-2nd degree (violent) and criminal conspiracy. 

Both were booked at a state Department of Juvenile Justice facility. Their names are not being released because of their age.

Officers are continuing to investigate.
