Sumter County, SC (WLTX) - Sumter County deputies say they've arrested a fifth suspect in connection to the killing of a man whose body was found in Lake Marion.
Anthony Dustin Dill, 32 was taken into custody Tuesday. He had a warrant for him on a charge of accessory after the fact.
His arrest was the latest in connection with the shooting death of 24-year-old Jerry Lamars Johnson. He'd been reported missing on April 24, and a day later, a fisherman found his body in a cove near Indian Bluff Park in Lake Marion in Orangeburg County.
Johnson died of multiple gunshot wounds, Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis said.
Officers say 31-year-old Stephen Stinnette, who's charged with murder, is the one who killed Johnson. Dennis says Johnson's body was then buried and dug up twice in Sumter County, then finally moved to Lake Marion a day or two later.
A motive hasn't been determined yet by investigators, but Dennis said Stinnette and Johnson were acquaintances.
Three other people have been charged with accessory after the fact in the case: 57-year-old Lisa Avins, 36-year-old Kimberly McFaddin Mcleod, and 36-year-old Andrew Thomas Scurry. Dennis said those three, along with Dill, had knowledge of the crime, and assisted with the moving of the body.
Avins is Stinnette's mother.
Johnson leaves behind an eight and five-year-old child.
