COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Richland County Coroner's Office is investigating the death of a 56-year-old detainee at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Robert L Moore, of Columbia, was discovered unresponsive in his cell by a detention center nurse during a medical pass around 6 p.m. The on-site medical team began life-saving measures to revive Moore but were unsuccessful.
Moore did not have a cellmate.
Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford said, “We will continue working with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to fully investigate this incident."
