COLUMBIA, S.C. — A jail guard at Alvin S Glenn Detention Center in Columbia has been arrested by Richland County Sheriff's Department on charges of misconduct in office and furnishing contraband to a prisoner.
According to investigators at RCSD, 28-year-old Antonia Walker "knowingly and unlawfully committed misconduct in office while employed as a guard at Alvin S Glenn Detention Center." A supervisor sent a report to RCSD regarding a correctional officer (Walker) caught bringing in contraband items into the facility.
The report continues that Walker left her station without her supervisor's knowledge or permission. Returning to the facility, Walker was taken from the breakroom area and searched in the supervisor's office. During the search, another supervisor went into the breakroom and located several bags of chips and a fountain drink cup belonging to Walker, packs of cigarettes were hidden under the chips and alcohol in the cup.
Walker was processed and booked into Alvin S Glenn Detention Center. She is the second guard to be arrested on misconduct in office and furnishing contraband to a prisoner in a week.
