Victim identified in Columbia DUI crash; suspect charged with felony

A woman was arrested for felony DUI resulting in death after a fatal crash in Columbia. Police continue to investigate the incident.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities have identified a woman who died after being involved in a crash with a suspected DUI driver on Wednesday night.

The crash occurred Wednesday evening near Broad River Road and Lost Creek Drive in Columbia.

Sydney Ezelle, 27, has been arrested and charged with felony DUI resulting in death following the two-vehicle collision. According to Columbia Police, she is accused of driving impaired and speeding when she struck the victim's vehicle. Ezelle remains housed at Alvin S Glenn Detention Center while awaiting a Friday morning bond hearing.

The Richland County Coroner's Office identified the victim in the crash as 58-year-old Marlyn L. Burkett of Irmo.
