PHOENIX — Silent Witness is offering a reward to help find the burglars who gained entry into a Phoenix shopping center by cutting a hole through the building's roof.
The burglary occurred on the night of July 25, 2024, at the shopping center located near 63rd Avenue and McDowell Road. The suspects managed to get inside one of the center's units and steal money by cutting a large hole through the roof.
12News spoke with the property manager at the shopping center. He didn't want to be publicly identified but says the burglars took off with several high-priced boxes of alcohol and a safe full of cash.
"I don't know exactly how much it was, but it was quite a lot of money in there," he said.
He worries the crime could be an inside job because few people know the building and the items in that exact area of the shopping center.
“Nobody knows that we have a safe up there. Nobody knows what we got up there, but they do know we have liquor in the liquor room. So probably they try to get the liquor and they find the safe and they took it too," he said.
Silent Witness, and the property owners, are offering $21,000 for information leading to an arrest. They hope these criminals are brought to justice.
“It's no matter what they took. But we need to put those people in jail so they won't do it again to other businesses," he said.
