Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies have arrested a couple after a 93-year-old woman under their care died.
Ted Keller, 67, and Tamera Keller, 51, were charged with neglect of a vulnerable adult.
Officers say on May 17, the Ted Keller called 9-1-1 after he found his mother lying in her bed unresponsive. Paramedics took the woman to the hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
Investigators determined that the Kellers hadn't fed the victim on a regular basis for more than a year, and also hadn't been giving her proper medical attention. Deputies added that she also was found in unfit living conditions.
According to officers, the victim was incapacitated and relied on the couple for her care, and was unable to fend for herself.
Ted Keller also works with Transport for Christ International as a chaplain. The group provides ministry to truckers.
Richland County deputies say anyone who suspects that an elderly person is being abused or neglected can call them at their victim's assistance unit at 803.576.3115.
