Richland County, SC (WLTX) -- Officials from the Richland County Sheriff's Department say businessman and city councilman Moe Baddourah is facing a domestic violence charge after slamming his wife's leg in a car door.
Baddourah is a member of the Columbia City Council and is a staff member at the University of South Carolina where he teaches hotel, restaurant and tourism management.
The department says Baddourah, 53, is charged with second degree criminal domestic violence. He turned himself in on Saturday morning to Richland County investigators.
On Wednesday, June 29th, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at a restaurant on Rosewood Drive just after 6:00 p.m. It is a location where Baddourah and his wife conducted child custody exchanges. Deputies say they were arguing before things got physical.
Baddourah has since made a statement regarding his arrest saying, "My wife and I are going through an unpleasant divorce, and accusations like this sometimes occur." You can read his statement here.
