Man arrested after allegedly biting off portion of security guard’s ear at Greyhound terminal

Chance Harbor, 27, is charged with felonious assault.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man was arrested after allegedly biting off a piece of a security guard’s ear at the Greyhound terminal in Columbus on Thursday, according to Franklin County Municipal Court documents.

Court records state that 27-year-old Chance Harbor, of Kenton, was at the Greyhound bus terminal on North Wilson Road when a security guard ordered him to leave several times.

The security guard told police that he asked Harbor to leave because he had an opened container of beer and was disciplining children who were with him and his girlfriend in an “aggressive manner."

Harbor refused to leave and admitted to officers that he finished his beer in front of the security guard.

Court records say the security guard then tried to physically remove Harbor. The two wrestled to the ground where Harbor allegedly bit off the lower portion of the security guard’s ear.

When officers with the Columbus Division of Police responded to the report of a disturbance, a witness at the scene positively identified Harbor. He was placed under arrest after he fled to a nearby gas station.

Harbor is charged with felonious assault.

According to court records, Harbor told a detective that an unknown male assisted the security guard and threatened him with a knife when the fight became physical.

The Greyhound bus terminal, which has been running since June 28, has been a source of dozens of police calls.

The city filed a lawsuit against the bus terminal last year arguing the bus station should be shut down due to safety and security concerns. Along with being a nuisance to some of the people who live and work nearby, a 42-year-old man was shot and killed there in early October.
